    • WIP: To be revamp in 2024-25
  • One of (NOT for DSCT/RMBI/EVMT)
    • PHYS1112 [3] safe choice — can act as a required course for all majors
    • PHYS1312 [3] if and only if you are a PHYS god
    • another Science Intro course in the same “OR” group for your aimed major [3]
  • First engineering introduction course: One of
    • COMP1021 [3] (required for all majors)
    • C placement test + COMP2011 [4] (no C placement test then does not count, and you can file course deviation for COMP1021)
    • C placement test + COMP2012H [5] (no C placement test then does not count, and you can file course deviation for COMP1021)

IMPORTANT

For best-24 credits in Major Selection Exercise, you must have at least 2 engineering intro courses or else F grade(s) will be counted. One of them is COMP1021.
Pick another from (in order of USTSpace ratings, from best to worst, source):

If you’re not aiming for COMP/CPEG/DSCT/RMBI/EVMT, please choose your aimed major’s introduction course first to not waste credits. Only plan major headstarts after picking your second engineering intro course!!!

Major headstart list

For the latest information, refer to major requirements and USTSpace (remember to sort by Semester or Post Date)

BIEN
CENG
CEEV
SUSEE
CIVL/CIEV
COMP/CPEG/DSCT

Remark: You can access COMP course pages with https://course.cse.ust.hk/\[insert_course_code\] even if you’re not enrolled in it

  • COMP2011 (Spring unless COMP1021/COMP1022P transferred) [4]
    • Remark: Recommend to take COMP1029C (P/F) in Winter or Backup all data from COMP2011 Course Site to familiarise yourself with C++ Syntax
  • COMP2211 as elective (Spring, unless COMP1021/COMP1022P transferred) [3]
  • one of
CPEG/ELEC
DA/IEEM
ISDN

Remark: don’t expect good grades in ISDN, and grades won’t matter for getting into it since the major is project-based

AE/MECH
EVMT
RMBI

If available: 3-4 credit transferred in Summer

Statistics (from Korea University through APRU Virtual Exchange) credit transferring to one of:

  • CIVL2160 [3] for CIVL/CIEV
